My name is Steve Howes, I'm 46 years old, I'm married to Lorraine & we have 2 children, Chris who is 18 years old & Lisa who is 16years old.
My sporting background was primarily track & field athletics from the age of 18 competing for Solihull & Small Heath AC
I started doing triathlon in 1992 & took the usual progression of sprint distance, olympic distance, middle distance which lead me into doing my 1st Ironman distance event in 1997 which was 'The Longest Day' in Wolverhampton.
In 1998 & 1999 I represented Great Britain as part of the Age Group Team competing at the ITU Long Course Triathlon World Championships in Sater,Sweden & Nice,France.
In 2000 I returned to Ironman distance & have been competing at that distance every year since.
I have raced IM Switzerland (2), Germany, Austria (2), Lanzarote & most recently Canada in August 2006.
My results at these races have enabled me to qualify outright for the Ironman Triathlon World Championships in Hawaii no less than 4 times in 2001, 2002, 2005 & again this year.
My most satisfying result to date has to be in Ironman Austria in 2005 where I set my Ironman Personal Best time of 9:33:07 & I won the 45-49 Age Group category.
I have already entered IM Lake Placid for 2007.
